Project/Program Overview

General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada currently has opportunities available for co-op software engineer to work in our Air and Naval Systems business area. Air and Naval Systems furnishes a range of capabilities and services to Canada’s Naval and Air forces, and to international customers around the world. We design, build, and support mission critical systems currently in the air over the Middle East and in the Asia Pacific, deployed at sea, and entering service at satellite anchor stations and defence facilities here in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting and supporting lead engineers and team members
  • Performing some basic design and/or analysis functions based on requirements
  • Documenting the analysis, design and test in accordance with development standards
  • Implementing some software routines to meet the requirements
  • Developing and performing tests and debug of code
  • Identifying defects, resolving issues and verification
  • Supporting and performing system level test and integration efforts
  • Participating in code reviews
  • Performing webpage (TWIKI) updates and maintenance

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience working on software development projects
  • Experience using C/C++ programming
  • Experience with software engineering processes and tools
  • Experience with any of the following development tools are highly desirable:
    • Rational ROSE, ClearCase and ClearQuest
    • Microsoft Visual Studio
    • Matlab
    • CodeCollaborator
    • Doxygen
    • DOORS
    • TI Code Composer Studio
    • Lab Windows CVI
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Enthusiastic contributor, willingness to learn new skills and takes on ownership of work
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision

Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
