Co-op Software Engineer, 8 Month

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada has an opportunity for a Co-op student to work in Halifax as part of our agile software development team as they research and develop advanced computer network defence, big data and machine learning solutions for both domestic and international customers. To maintain our competitive edge, the team performs innovation R&D related to cybersecurity and software assurance.

The successful candidate will be working within a small team of highly skilled professionals in a collaborative environment to develop innovation solutions. The development team is highly agile and utilizes agile development methodologies in their development practices, working together to design, implement, integrate, test, and deliver features for our innovative and world class products.  Typical assignments may involve cyber defence, machine learning and big data solutions.

Our first and foremost priority remains the health and safety of our colleagues. As a result, this role will be working remotely for the foreseeable future. The primary location of this role is Halifax/Dartmouth Nova Scotia.

The responsibilities and range of activities will vary depending on experience, but in general will include:

• Work cooperatively within an agile team.
• Perform software design and/or analysis based on requirements.
• Document the analysis, design and test in accordance with development standards.
• Develop software capabilities.
• Participate in peer code reviews.
• Perform software integration.
• Identify, analyse, document, and resolve issues and defects.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
