  • Project/Program Overview

    The General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada Vetronics team has a requirement for a Co-Op Software Engineer to support multiple programs in the Vetronics product area. The successful candidate for this position will contribute directly to the design and implementation of embedded software for the smart display product line.Our products have become an integral part of combat vehicle platforms such as the M1A1 Abrams tank, the Stryker family of Armored Fighting Vehicles, the Joint Light Tactial Vehicle (JLTV) and the Mine Resistant Ambush Protested (MRAP) vehicles.


    • Exposure to developing embedded application software for devices and computers
    • Interest in product development and support of existing products
    • Exposure to developing software for video products such as displays and cameras
    • Exposure to ARM micro-controllers and video processors
    • OS: MS Windows, Linux, Embedded Linux
    • C/C++ and various scripting languages
    • Interest in the design and development of OS device drivers
    • Exposure to software/hardware integration and test
    • Ability to follow software design and development plans and processes
    • Experience working in a team environment with systems, software and hardware engineering peers
    • Innovative and a self-starter
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
    • Exposure to MIL-STD S/W and H/W development environments and processes

    • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent


    Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
    Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
